PPH - From roadmap to reality FIGO Global Webinar

19/11/2024
Webinar

Post-partum haemorrhage (PPH) is the leading cause of maternal mortality globally, accounting for over 20% of maternal deaths worldwide. Although PPH is largely preventable, it continues to disproportionately affect women in low- and middle-income countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently collaborated with key stakeholders including FIGO and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) to cultivate a PPH Roadmap. The 2023 to 2030 Roadmap seeks to address key PPH priorities and fast-track progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets.

Featuring leaders from WHO, ICM and FIGO, this webinar will demonstrate the power of collaboration in achieving a genuine reduction in PPH around the globe. Speakers will outline the WHO Roadmap for PPH and discuss strategic areas critical to driving forward efforts on PPH elimination such as research, norms and standards, implementation and advocacy. Additionally, a trainee obstetrician and a young midwife will share their experiences with PPH disparities, bringing in crucial perspectives on this topic from the next generation of women’s health professionals.

This webinar is a call to action to the member societies of FIGO and ICM, highlighting what we must do together to tackle PPH worldwide.

This webinar is led by the FIGO Committee on Childbirth & PPH in collaboration with the WHO and ICM.
